Rob Sylvester : Chief Executive Officer

Rob has an insurance family background. His career started in 1987 with Mutual & Federal in the corporate accounts arena. In 1990, Rob joined Leslie Pitman & Associates and was appointed to the board of directors in 1995. The company was sold to Thebe Hosken (the black empowerment company in the Alexander Forbes Group) in 1999, and Rob was appointed a director. In 2001, he launched Econorisk with the mission of providing what a lot of clients desired but were not getting – professional, personal service.

Roy Lawrence : Director

ACII, AIISA, Chartered Insurance Broker

Roy, a former director of Alexander Forbes and Willis Faber, has 47 years of insurance experience, 40 in South Africa. His track record includes 10 years of insurance company experience and 37 years in broking. He is well versed in commercial and corporate broking (including work for multi-nationals) and has knowledge of the London market in particular. He has handled accounts such as Hoechst Pharmaceuticals, Independent Newspapers, Rand Water Board, CNA, Gallo Africa, CTP Printers, Caxton, Concor Construction, SA Reserve Bank, SA Bank Note Company and the SA Mint.

Adrian Haddow : Financial Director

BComm (Unisa), MBA (Glasgow)

Adrian joined Econorisk in 2006 as financial manager. He has a background in financial management, human resources and marketing and has held executive positions in South Africa and the UK in manufacturing, advertising and insurance. Adrian is today financial director of the Econorisk group of companies and managing director of Econorisk Administration Services.






Richard Hood : Director and Business Partner

AIISA

Richard started his career with Mutual & Federal and moved into broking in 1996. As a senior executive for Alexander Forbes, he ran commercial operations in Port Elizabeth, East London and Johannesburg. Richard has consulted to numerous clients, ranging from the commercial and corporate sector to municipalities and parastatals. He joined Econorisk as sales director, later becoming a business partner within the Econorisk family.

Brett Schultz : Director and Business Partner

Brett started his broking career with Campbell & Associates in 1991, taking a regional management role while developing his career in domestic and international cricket. He moved to the Campbell & Associates head office in 1996 before becoming an entrepreneur in Cape Town’s entertainment and tourism industry. He later joined Uni-Source before moving to South African Financial Services to run the Eastern and Western Cape regions. Brett joined us in 2003 after Rob Sylvester created a joint venture opportunity.

Margaret Sylvester : Director and Business Partner

Margaret’s 15 years in the corporate financial services environment includes experience of the healthcare, long-term assurance and investment sectors. She has held senior management roles at Fedsure Health and Discovery. A Certified Financial Planner, she completed her ILPA qualification in Health in 1998. In 2007, Margaret launched Econorisk Wealthcare Solutions in partnership with Econorisk.





Glynnis Gard : Underwriting Manager

Glynnis began her insurance career in 1986 at Monarch Insurance (now Ace Insurance Company). In 1988 she entered the broking community and joined Alexander Forbes. She held several senior technical underwriting positions until she left to join Econorisk in 2005. Glynnis heads our underwriting department and prides herself on providing the highest possible technical and administration support.





Martin Richardson : Claims Manager

Martin started his career with Fedgen Insurance in 1990 and moved into broking in 1992 when he worked for Willis Faber and Alexander Forbes. He joined Econorisk in 2002 and has been claims department manager since 2003. His mission is to ensure that all clients receive the highest quality claims service.
